The menu for food and drink prices at the Miami Formula 1 Grand Prix were something else over the weekend.
F1 is typically seen as a “higher-end” race compared to, say, NASCAR. Even so, these prices are still absolutely nuts!
Who wouldn’t do a double take in seeing $190 for nachos or $55 for a Bud Light bucket?
F1 Food Prices Out Of Control
The Miami International Autodrome held its third-ever grand prix over the weekend. If you were one of the lucky few to score a ticket, but also wanted to get food or have drinks, boy were you in for a rude awakening.
Images of the restaurant prices at the Hard Rock Beach Club showed warm meals ranging from $120 to $210.
How about chilled meals? A pot of fruit cost about $200.
How about some caviar with your dish? For $400 you can have an ounce of it.
Organizers Defend Prices
Now according to the grand prix organizers, these prices mean the selections will serve eight people.
It’s never been a secret that Formula 1 has always been on the pricy side across the board – tickets, concessions, merchandise, you name it.
Still, the price of food and drinks at the event had to floor even F1 fans.
We all expect to pay more for concessions at events. We expect beer to cost more at a concert or hot dogs to be more at a game than they might be on the street. It’s simply the nature of entertainment, sports and any kind of event planning.
However that increase should bear some resemblance to reasonableness and common sense.
But on the other hand… if there are enough people with enough money to but the already expensive ticket and also drop hundreds or maybe even thousands on concessions…
Can you blame F1 for making all that money?
And here’s one thing to consider – prices are down from last year’s race!
