ESPN analyst Marty Smith called on semi-retired NASCAR driver Greg Biffle to be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his aid and rescue efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

I’m not sure there are too many people who would disagree with the notion.

Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle should receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his ongoing and ceaseless heroic efforts in western North Carolina, using his helicopter & coordinating w/ others to save lives,” Smith, who covers NASCAR for the network, shared on X.

He urged followers to look at Biffle’s own social media feed to see videos of him using a personal helicopter to run flights bringing aid to those suffering in the wake of the storm’s devastation.

“Thank you, Greg,” he concluded.

Greg Biffle Recognized For Hurricane Efforts

Helene, a formidable Category 4 storm when it made landfall in Florida’s Big Bend region, wound up leaving a path of destruction stretching through Georgia, the Carolinas, and points elsewhere.

The hurricane’s aftermath created flooded streets, destroyed homes and whole towns, and left entire communities cut off from essential services.

Bounding Into Sports has chronicled the efforts of several NASCAR teams and drivers as they struggle to help their communities recover.

Biffle has stood out. Literally rising (in his helicopter) to the occasion.

He recently shared a wild video showing a stranded man signaling his chopper with the help of a mirror.

“The mirror that caught our attention well over a mile away,” Biffle wrote on X. “Only way we … were able to find someone stranded in the mountains at bottom of steep canyon.”

The semi-retired NASCAR driver indicated it took “6 attempts to land” in the area but they did eventually get to the man and were able to deliver he and his family badly needed supplies.

Fans Seem To Agree On The Medal

As Smith notes, it would be wise to check out Greg Biffle’s X timeline to see the seemingly tireless effort he is putting forth in providing aid to Hurricane victims.

Several fans responded to Smith’s call for Biffle to get the Presidential Medal of Freedom. It’s the highest civilian award one can receive in America.

[Kenny Wallace] said this is not out of character for Biffle,” one NASCAR fan wrote. “Love to see folks with the funds and selfishness to do good for folks.”

Another replied, “No doubt! He is leading the effort in a much more efficient manner than our own government (state and federal). Cheers Biff!”

“And he is doing it without fanfare,” one person noted. “He is amazing.”

He certainly has been amazing. And we’re quite certain he isn’t through helping folks quite yet.
