“Yesterday afternoon, on his way to Daytona, Chris was involved in a serious car accident. A semi-truck crossed the center line and hit Chris’s Mustang head-on,” a statement on his X account reads.

The statement also added that he was immediately transferred to Prisma Health Medical Center nearby in Columbia, South Carolina, where he was rushed into surgery.

“Although a CT scan showed numerous injuries, he’s now in stable condition and is expected to have a full recovery.”

“Chris is in good spirits and his family has flow to South Carolina to be with him. He will remain in the hospital while he recovers but hopes to be able to return home in the coming weeks. He appreciates everyone’s thoughts and prayers and looks forward to a speedy recovery and getting back to the track.”

Road to Recovery For Chris Hacker

After being suspended for a DWI last year, NASCAR has reinstated the 24-year-old, known only as Hacker. His suspension came following an incident where Huntersville, North Carolina police caught him excessively speeding.

Despite the setback, which is particularly problematic for someone whose profession involves driving, Hacker dedicated himself to recovery. He successfully completed NASCAR’s Road to Recovery program and, on Valentine’s Day, shared the news of his six-month sobriety and return to the sport.

Instead of returning as a driver, Hacker has taken a different path within NASCAR. He has joined the Joey Gase Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series team as a mechanic, demonstrating his commitment to working his way back into the industry.
