A new report claims that Golden Star Warriors forward Draymond Green struck his teammate Jordan Poole after the two were involved in a heated dispute.
The Ahtletic’s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater report that that Poole and Green got into a “heated interaction” that eventually led to a bunch of pushing and shoving as well as “chest-to-chest” contact.
Green then escalated the situation from the pushing and shoving by striking Poole.
The report further notes that the Warriors management attempted to deescalate the situation by immediately terminating the practice and then addressing it in their locker room area.
However, The Athletic notes, “internal disciple is imminent.”
Charania wrote on Twitter, “There was a physical altercation at Warriors’ practice today that has the team considering disciplinary action toward Draymond Green.”
He further noted, “When a chest-to-chest interaction with guard Jordan Poole escalated, Green forcefully struck Poole and both needed to be separated swiftly, sources said.”
Yahoo Sports Senior NBA Insider Chris Haynes added, “Draymond Green was apologetic in aftermath of the altercation with Jordan Poole, but there was a buildup stemming from teammates noticing a change in Poole’s behavior throughout camp with the guard on the verge of securing a lucrative extension.”
He added, “Draymond Green and Jordan Poole have a history, but no players for the Golden State Warriors felt the incident was warranted. Some form of disciplinary action is expected.”
YouTuber Ryan Kinel of Sports Wars reacted to these reports saying, “Draymond is going to do Draymond things every once and awhile. Maybe that was a message to Jordan Poole that ‘Hey, you are still a part of this team. You still need to be humbled. You still haven’t been here as long as the rest of us have.”
Poole put up an average of 18.5 points per game last year and added 4 assists per game. He hit 44.8% of his field goals and had a 36.4 shooting percentage from three. It was his best season yet.
In the playoffs he continued his performance putting up 17 points per game with 3.8 assists. His overall shooting percentage was 50.8% and from the three point line it was 39.%.
In his first three seasons with the Golden State Warriors he’s averaged 13.7 points per game with 2.9 assists. He had a 41.6 overall shooting percentage. From three his shooting percentage is 34.1%.
In 2021-22, Green put up 7.5 points per game as well as 7.3 rebounds, and 7 assists. His overall field goal percentage was 52.5%.
In the playoffs he averaged 8 points per game, 9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. It was his worst playoff point performance since his 2012-13. It was also his second worst rebounding performance, the worst being 2012-13.
Throughout his career, Green averages 8.7 points per game, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists.
