Upon returning from suspension, oft-troubled star Draymond Green says that he considered quitting the game instead of returning to the Warriors
Draymond Green has had his fair share of ups and downs during his long and successful NBA career. In 12 NBA seasons, he has won four NBA titles as a member of the Golden State Warriors. He’s been suspended plenty of times as well.
He was sidelined by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver most recently for his actions against Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkić after it appeared Green struck the opposing payer on purpose. It was the sixth suspension overall during his NBA career, and he was forced to go through an intense counseling program before being allowed back on the hardwood. He did so, and was reinstated late last week.
However, the Golden State Warriors forward said Monday on The Draymond Green Show that he was considering retirement following his suspension, but that a discussion with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver convinced him to continue playing.
“I told him, ‘Adam this is too much for me. … This is too much. It’s all becoming too much for me — and I’m going to retire,'” Green said. “And Adam said, ‘You’re making a very rash decision and I won’t let you do that.'”

“We had a long, great conversation—very helpful to me,” Green continued. “Very thankful to play in a league with a commissioner like Adam who’s more about helping you than hurting you; helping you than punishing you. He’s more about the players.”
The owner of four NBA Championship rings, four NBA All-Star selections, and one Defensive Player of the Year Award (in 2017), Draymond Green has been a valued member of the Warriors’ recent dynasty.
