Look, we give LeBron James a lot of grief on these pages, much of it well-deserved. He thinks he’s the king of basketball when in reality, he might sneak into the top 10 all-time. But that’d be a stretch.
He actually is the king of flopping, though, so there’s that. He’s dragged down the Los Angeles Lakers franchise by forcing them into a personal Make-A-Wish foundation for his son, Bronny. And he tries to accost journalists on the floor when they accurately report that lil’ Bron is not cut out for the NBA.
But when he does something right, we have to acknowledge it. And man, this right here is something special. You have to tip your cap to the guy on this one, no doubt about it.
As LeBron walked toward the locker room following LA’s 100-92 victory over the Houston Rockets, a young fan shouted out for an autograph on his shoe. LeBron kept moving at first — until the kid’s dad stepped in with some classic parenting: “Say please.”
He listened to his Dad, and that one magic word flipped the script. James immediately turned around, called the boy over, and took the time to sign the sneaker right there in the tunnel. The wholesome moment, captured on video, has exploded across social media for all the right reasons.

The dad wasn’t trying to go viral — he was just teaching his son basic respect in real time, and LeBron rewarded it without hesitation. No security rush, no brush-off, just a quick interaction that ended with the kid walking away with a one-of-a-kind souvenir and probably the story of a lifetime. Now, that’s what we like to see.
In today’s world, where too many athletes and fans act like the rules don’t apply to them, this simple exchange felt like a throwback to when manners actually opened doors. Fans online couldn’t get enough, praising both the father for raising his boy right and LeBron for showing that class still counts, even for a four-time MVP who’s seen it all.
We’ll give James his flowers here, too.
LeBron didn’t have to stop. He chose to. The biggest star in the game made time for a well-raised kid who simply asked nicely. Dad got the ultimate teaching win, the fan got his signed shoe, and the internet got a much-needed dose of positivity.
Well done, LeBron. Well done.
