The NBA has reportedly suspended a project employee who posted critical comments on Instagram following Charlie Kirk‘s death, including statements dismissing his legacy and expressing no sympathy for him.
The employee also mockingly offered “thoughts and prayers” in the aftermath of Kirk’s assassination.
The league suspended the employee for two weeks without pay after an investigation prompted by a report from OutKick. They told the outlet the suspension is a result of the employee’s posts violating league policy.
“The project employee has been suspended without pay for two weeks for violating multiple NBA policies,” a spokesman told Outkick.

What NBA employee said about Charlie Kirk
Outkick originally revealed some of the vile messages the NBA employee made about Charlie Kirk’s killing on Instagram, one of which included calling the political figure a “terrible person” and a “s—hole.”
“Did absolutely nothing healthy for the world except spew dangerous rhetoric… There is no legacy… he was a terrible person (a shithole),” the person, who has not been identified, wrote.
“Oh I also forgot to include ‘thoughts and prayers’ LMAO,” they added in another post.
Because laughing at somebody’s murder is somehow acceptable in today’s political climate. I don’t know, man. It seems like commentary along these lines is worthy of something a little more harsh than a two-week vacation.
While some might suggest a free speech argument here, it should be noted that the employee posted these comments from an account featuring the NBA logo and identifying himself as an employee. They were representing the NBA while mocking somebody’s death.
The league is just going to accept somebody who feels murder is justified so long as the person expresses views contrary to their own after the two weeks is up?
The @NBA STILL has not responded to any follow ups from OutKick regarding their investigation into an employee that allegedly mocked Charle Kirk’s assassination.

Reaction from the sports world
Charlie Kirk, at just 31 years of age, was fatally shot in the neck while speaking at a Utah Valley University event last month. His dedication to conservative principles and his fearless voice in the face of adversity inspired a generation.
While this particular NBA employee is an example of the disgusting response to his murder, the sports world also saw several moments honoring Kirk. His death prompted emotional reactions from across the sports world.
That included a moment of silence by the New York Yankees before their game against the Detroit Tigers less than 24 hours later.
Prominent sports figures, including former Yankee Mark Teixeira and New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, expressed condolences and condemned the act of violence.
Unfortunately, this NBA employee decided to go a different route, revealing more about himself than anything else.
