Netflix is set to take the sports docuseries game to a whole new level with its upcoming release, Starting 5.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, this highly anticipated series will premiere on October 9 and is poised to be one of the most star-studded sports documentaries to date.
The 10-episode series offers an “unfiltered view of life at the pinnacle of professional basketball,” following NBA superstars LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Jimmy Butler, and Domantas Sabonis throughout the 2023-2024 season.
Produced by Uninterrupted, the company co-founded by LeBron James, the series has some heavyweight executive producers behind it. Notably, former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are on board through their production company, Higher Ground.

Peyton Manning, through Omaha Productions, is also contributing his expertise, which he previously demonstrated in the popular Quarterback series on Netflix. The combination of these high-profile names makes Starting 5 a major player in the ever-competitive sports docuseries arena.
The excitement surrounding Starting 5 is palpable, especially given the success of previous Netflix sports series like Drive to Survive and Full Swing.
With Starting 5, viewers are promised a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of some of the NBA’s biggest stars, making it a must-watch for basketball fans and beyond.
As the series gears up for its debut just ahead of the NBA season, it’s clear that Netflix is doubling down on its commitment to bringing premium sports content to the masses. This is one docuseries you won’t want to miss!
