Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green made plenty of news as the NBA held All-Star weekend festivities in Chase Center, home of the Warriors. Green had opinions on numerous topics from the All-Star game format to the players’ lack of effort and the current state of the NBA as a whole.
But he also made an extremely bold prediction that made people sit up and take notice.
For context, the Warriors are currently in 10th in the Western conference with a 28-27 record. They did, however, make an impactful trade deadline move to acquire Jimmy Butler, who certainly brings a level of competitive fire.
With that context, it surprised many when Green promised that those 10th place Warriors would end up in first place when all is said and done.
Draymond Green must be feeling extreme confidence to guarantee a championship run from his team at the back end of the season. Golden State’s quest for a championship run begins on Friday with a road game against the Sacramento Kings.

So the man’s got confidence to spare. But how do these predictions usually end up?
Here are two notable examples and what happened.
Notable Athletes And Bold Predictions
Joe Namath’s Guarantee – Super Bowl III

New York Jets quarterback Joe Namath was not shy about voicing his confidence ahead of Super Bowl III. Days before the game against the Baltimore Colts, Namath went on record with a quote that was extremely bold: “We’re going to win the game, I guarantee it.”
Namath and the Jets would pull off the stunning upset over the Colts in Super Bowl III 16-9. Safe to say, Namath talked the talk and he walked the walk.
Aaron Rodgers: “I Believe We Can Run The Table”

Another memorable quote from a high profile athlete came from Aaron Rodgers. In 2016, the Green Bay Packers were 4-6 after 10 games and were on the outside looking in for the postseason. Media had buried them and their chances to even be in contention.
The week of the Philadelphia Eagles game, Rodgers gave a jaw dropping quote: “I believe we can run the table.” In other words, he said he believed the Packers could win all of their remaining regular season games.
Guess what? They did.
Green Bay went on a six game winning streak to end the regular season and rode that momentum to the NFC Championship game. Although they fell just short of making the Super Bowl, it was a remarkable run regardless.
