NBA superstar LeBron James and his family have been among the many in Los Angeles forced to evacuate their homes due to devastating wildfires.

The fires, which have been raging across Southern California, have caused widespread destruction, leading to significant impacts on both the community and its residents. Many such residents include high-profile individuals in sports and entertainment like James.

The Los Angeles area has been gripped by multiple wildfires. The Palisades Fire is one of the most aggressive, threatening affluent neighborhoods like Brentwood, where James resides.

The fires have tragically claimed at least 25 lives and have destroyed over 12,300 structures. The Palisades Fire alone has spread over more than 23,700 acres and is currently just 17% contained.

Over 180,000 individuals, including Vice President Kamala Harris, have been ordered to evacuate.

LeBron James Has Been Feeling Off In Midst Of Wildfires

LeBron James’ residence in Brentwood, Los Angeles, is not just any home; it’s a luxurious mansion valued at over $27 million, as per recent estimates.

The mansion sprawls across a significant plot of land and boasts amenities like a basketball court, home theater, wine cellar, and extensive outdoor spaces.

James and his family, including his wife Savannah, three children, and his mother, had to leave their home on Thursday night, taking up temporary residence in a hotel. The future Hall of Famer expressed feeling “off” and said he was emotional about the situation.

“There’s been a lot of emotions,” James said during a recent press conference. “I have a couple of dear friends that have lost their homes in the Palisades. Obviously, my heart goes out to all of the families all across not only the (Pacific) Palisades, but all across LA County and all the surrounding areas because of the fire and things of that nature.”

“Personally, I’ve been off,” he continued. “Personally, my family, we’ve been evacuated since Thursday night. So, I’ve been in a hotel since pretty much when we got back from Dallas. So, just figuring it out. But staying strong for one another. Obviously, that’s most important.”

Stepping Up

LeBron James’ team, the Los Angeles Lakers, have committed to a collective donation effort. The team, along with other sports teams in the area, pledged over $8 million to support the wildfire victims.

Other athletes have stepped up as well.

Golf legend Tiger Woods, as reported by Bounding Into Sports, hinted that he’d be intensely engaged in providing charitable donations to the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires.

“The devastation that is ongoing with the LA fires is such a tragedy and being from California, it hits home,” Woods said in a statement. “My heart is with those who have suffered unimaginable loss. Thank you to the incredible heroes that are the first responders helping to contain and save the community of Los Angeles.”

“We plan to provide an update on our own charitable efforts to help these communities in the coming weeks,” he later added. “Stay strong LA!”

Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani has also pledged a $500,000 donation to support firefighters, displaced residents, and animals impacted by the wildfires in Southern California.

LeBron and company have indeed been off since dealing with the wildfires, losing three of their last four games, while James has averaged just 19.7 points during that stretch.
