Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker made a hard decision over the weekend, taking a stand supporting the restaurant chain Hooters.

Booker, a four-time NBA All-Star and two-time Olympic gold medalist, provided an uplifting message – hoping the restaurant could stay in business as reports indicate they are heading for bankruptcy.

“Plz don’t go @Hooters,” Booker pleaded on X.

Booker then took the floor and posted some solid numbers (29 points, 8 assists) as he lifted his team to victory over the Chicago Bulls.

Hooters Financials Have Been Drooping Of Late

It’s a sad day for all mankind. Nobody ever wants to see Hooters go away. But now, the chain is experiencing some financial aches and pains that portend a skimpy economic future.

According to Bloomberg, the chain sold about $300 million in asset-backed bonds in 2021 and has faced declining foot traffic, which forced the closure of several locations.

Now, they write, the bankruptcy process could take place within months.

“The company, known for its skimpy server uniforms and double-entendre owl mascot, was working to address its debt load with its lawyers as well as turnaround advisers …” Bloomberg writes.

Restaurant businesses have suffered tremendously in the inflation-fueled economic doom and gloom of the past four years. However, one would think a chain with an absolute lock on the young male demographic would be able to fight through.

But then, they’ve had some other issues.

Who Else Is Pushing-Up Hooters?

Devin Booker isn’t the only athlete to send Hooters well wishes during these trying times. Golf influencer Paige Spiranac, also known largely for ‘skimpy uniforms,’ vowed never to let Hooters sink to such levels.

“Not on my watch,” she declared on X.

The good news is that Hooters’ plan is not to go completely out of business. According to sources close to the matter, the chain seeks to restructure through Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which would allow it to renegotiate debts and leases while keeping the business firmly implanted in the community.

There is no word on whether Hooters would consider switching to an all-delivery system and change their name to ‘Knockers.’

Should the restaurant chain file for bankruptcy, we here at Bounding Into Sports vow to keep you abreast of the situation.
