Trivia time here at Bounding Into Sports – What is Bronny James’ current field goal percentage in the NBA? Is it:
- A) Between 40-45%
- B) Between 30-35%
- C) Between 20-25%
- D) Over 10%, but Under 20%?
Go ahead, look it up. You won’t believe your eyes.
The answer to the question is ‘None of the Above.’
The younger James’ current shooting percentage sits at 9.1%. And that’s after a game against the Washington Wizards in which he raised it nearly three points by going a stellar (for him) 1-6 from the floor during garbage time of a 38-point blowout by the Lakers Thursday night.
Can you even fathom how bad you have to be as a shooter to go 1 for six and have it drastically increase your FG%? I’ll tell you how bad – Bronny James bad.
Bronny James Shoots Like The Rim Is Playing Hide And Seek
Bronny James’ inability to shoot a basketball, seemingly a fundamental skill in the sport of … basketball, has not gone unnoticed. Enter ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith, who is pleading with LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers to pull the plug on this failed experiment.
Smith’s comments begging for mercy came after the Lakers lost to the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday. Bronny played 15 minutes and promptly went 0-5 from the field.
“I am pleading with LeBron James as a father: stop this. Stop this,” Smith said on “First Take” on Wednesday. “We all know that Bronny James is in the NBA because of his dad.”
“The first game of the season, opening night, the Griffeys in attendance, father-son duo playing in an NBA game for first time, an absolutely, positively wonderful story,” he continued. “And then reality sets in.”
Smith went on to point out that Bronny needs to stay in the G League if there is any hope of him eventually developing into a bench warmer in the NBA.
“He’s a wonderful kid, I wish him nothing but the best. But he’s LeBron James’ son and everybody knows what attention that brings.”

Not Everybody Sees The Reality
I agree with everything Stephen A. is saying, with the exception of the part about ‘reality’ setting in. Reality has not set in with Lakers fans.
Proof of this comes in the form of their giving Bronny James a standing ovation for playing the entire fourth quarter of garbage time and making one bucket.
Look at this nonsense – He got an ‘and 1’, and the team and crowd celebrated like they won the championship – something they will never do again as long as the James family saddles them with baggage.

Here’s the thing – the Lakers are actually going to walk away from that after the crowd reaction, thinking, ‘That’s it, man, he’s finally arrived.’
They’ll believe he had a great night. Maybe even his best ever. By going 1 for six against the Wizards scrubs.
Embarrassing. And to think that team once battled the Boston Celtics for supremacy in the NBA. Now they’ve been reduced to a really bad joke.
I contend right now – and I defy any of you to argue this – Caitlin Clark would be more successful in the NBA than Bronny is. And it wouldn’t even be close.
