The Minnesota Timberwolves paused before their Thursday night game against the Cleveland Cavaliers to hold a pregame moment of silence for Renee Good, the 37-year-old woman fatally shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer the previous day.
The tribute, held approximately three miles from the site of the shooting in a residential Minneapolis neighborhood, highlighted the deep community impact of the incident.
Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch addressed the tragedy beforehand, noting that the organization was thinking of Good and her family, including her young 6-year-old son.
“As we all know, our community has suffered yet another unspeakable tragedy,” Finch said before his team went on to win the game. “We want to just convey our condolences and heartfelt wishes and prayers and thoughts to the families and loved ones and all of those that are greatly affected by what happened.”
Timberwolves Fan Shouts Disgusting Message … Crowd Cheers
The public address announcer called on the crowd of about 17,000 to join in honoring Good, her loved ones, and the broader community, and to hope for healing and unity during this difficult time.
Instead, the moment took a dramatic turn when fans voiced their disapproval of law enforcement. Video and reports from the arena captured shouts of “Go home, ICE!” echoing through the stands, followed by a loud “F*** ICE!” from one spectator during the silence itself.
Classy job, Timberwolves fan. The outburst drew applause and cheers from portions of the crowd, an absolute embarrassment for the organization and the NBA as a whole.
(WARNING: Language)
Disgraceful
The unspeakable tragedy, as Finch says, is that unhinged agitators keep trying to impede authorities in carrying out their jobs and enforcing the laws. All while feckless leaders bait them into doing stupid things.
Which is exactly what happened to Good. She would still be alive today if not for leftists siding rabidly with criminal illegal aliens and gangbangers. All while her wife was filming the incident in the hopes of getting a viral clip on social media.
I’m not even going to entertain the arguments on the justification here – the ICE agent had every right to use his weapon based on the woman’s actions, which were made clear in every angle and slow-motion video posted to social media.
She jammed the accelerator and struck the officer. He fired back. It’s clear-cut. Do I wish she was still alive? Absolutely. Did her actions lead to what inevitably happened? Yes.
The Wolves won the contest, 131-122, marking their fourth straight win.
