Bill Belichick, fresh off his hiring as an analyst for Inside the NFL on The CW Network, is reportedly plotting a return to the sidelines.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that the television gig, along with other public appearances, are an attempt to keep the six-time Super Bowl champion’s name in the headlines and involved with the game in some capacity.

“Bill Belichick intends to coach in 2025,” Pelissero insisted speaking as a guest host on The Rich Eisen Show on Tuesday.

“He’s staying engaged in the game, he’s showing up to roasts. He’s now going to be on Inside the NFL. We’ve seen him showing up to different events.”

Added Pelissero, “He’s fully invested and he wants to coach again.”

Did you really think you could keep The Hoodie away from the game?

Was ‘Thrilled’ About TV Gig

News that Bill Belichick is pushing to get back into coaching after surprisingly being unable to land a job for the 2024 season has to be a bit of a shock for folks at The CW Network.

Any suggestion he is using the job to get himself back on the sidelines has to be worrisome as well.

How much effort is he going to put into the analyst game if all the while he’s pining away to be a coach again, daydreaming about it like some sort of gridiron Walter Mitty?

“I’m thrilled to join my new team at NFL Films and to work on such a historic television franchise,” Belichick said in a statement following his hiring as an analyst.

“I’ve always appreciated Inside the NFL’s depth of analysis, and I hope to bring the same detailed insight to The CW by talking real football with real pros – Ryan, Chris and Chad – this coming season.”

That’s like telling a woman that you’re “thrilled” to be with her all the while making eyes at the 24-year-old former cheerleader across the bar. Okay, maybe that’s a bad analogy.

Bill Belichick Eyeing Coaching Record

While the network might not be thrilled to hear that Bill Belichick is plotting a return to coaching, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it from his standpoint. Frankly, he should be on a sideline somewhere.

We’ll take him in Dallas, yo.

Pelissero explained what is motivating him to get back under the headset and the hoodie.

“He wants to pursue the all-time wins record,” said Pelissero. “Those are things that really matter a lot to Bill Belichick.”

Belichick currently sits in third place on the all-time wins list, 16 behind legendary Chicago Bears coach George Halas (318), and Miami Dolphins coach Don Shula (328).
