Colin Kaepernick is still under the misguided notion that he could play quarterback in the NFL and even help guide a team to a Super Bowl title.

In an interview with Sky Sports, the former San Francisco 49ers signal-caller said he is still toiling away on the practice field in the hopes that some league executive will take a chance on him.

“We’re still training and still pushing, hopefully we just got to get one of these team owners to open up,” he said.

“It’s something I’ve trained my whole life for, so to be able to step back on the field, I think that would be a major moment, a major accomplishment for me,” added Kaepernick.

“I think I could bring a lot to a team and help them win a championship.”

Colin Kaepernick Trained His Whole Life To Play In The NFL

Regrets, he’s had a few. Here’s the thing – and I won’t go too far into the weeds on the politics and the antics of why Colin Kaepernick is toxic in the NFL.

But if you worked and trained your whole life for something, probably best not to enrage your team’s ownership by making everything about you. And then walk away from that team as a free agent.

Not to mention, what sort of delusion are we experiencing thinking he is championship-caliber material?

His last season in the league, Kaepernick led his team to an atrocious 2-14 record (1-10 in games he started). He voluntarily became a free agent after being benched and turned down multiple offers to play or workout with other teams in some capacity.

Why? Because he wanted the spotlight for his cause. Not for the team or his teammates. He wanted attention.

Bottom line – He lost his job because he couldn’t deliver results. Eight years later and he’s going to walk onto the field for a team and deliver them a Lombardi Trophy? Please.

Coach Kaep?

Earlier this year, pro football insider Mike Florio suggested Colin Kaepernick might join Jim Harbaugh on the coaching staff of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Former Chargers All-Pro and sacks leader, Shawne Merriman, was outraged at the suggestion.

Merriman said putting Kaepernick on the coaching staff would be a “horrible decision” and an affront to everyone who worked hard in the coaching ranks and would deserve the position.

“To jump over everybody else who spent their time, energy, still in line and work their way up, would just be a slap in the face to everyone that’s been committed to raising the bar,” he said.

Former Denver Broncos general manager John Elway said the team offered Kaepernick a contract in 2016, the year he opted to walk away from the 49ers.
