Country music star Jelly Roll, a native of Nashville, spoke to the Tennessee Titans and delivered a motivational speech emphasizing the importance of team bonding during road trips.

Roll, born Jason DeFord, drew on his own experiences touring as a musician. He highlighted how the Titans’ presence transformed the city from a small town to a major city, fostering a never-before-seen sense of community pride.

“The biggest acquisition we ever made as a city was the Tennessee Titans,” the “Son of a Sinner” singer said. “It was the first time our city ever felt like a city.”

He discussed his challenging past, including multiple arrests, and how personal growth as a husband and human improved his professional life as a songwriter and performer.

“That’s something else I learned. I started becoming a better songwriter when I started becoming a better husband. I started becoming a better performer when I started becoming a better human,” the country star continued. “It’s funny how the heavens started opening up for me just because of how I was treating relationships everywhere else.”

Jelly Roll – You Become a Team on the Road

Taking the time to work on relationships is where Jelly Roll was headed with his speech to the Tennessee Titans. Being a musician constantly on the road, he was speaking from experience.

“There’s a culture being built. I feel it,” he explained. “Men, double-down on that culture the next 10 days, y’all. This is a chance; y’all are stuck with each other. This is the time more than ever to get to know each other’s grannies.”

J-Roll went on to point out that he’s lost somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 pounds and might just join the team himself.

“But I believe in y’all, man. Take this road to get together, men. Take this road as a chance to build something. Every time you get on that road, bring it home. Think about the relationships outside of here, man,” he added.

“It’s funny how just being a good husband will change your entire day on the field.”

Now a WWE Star

Jelly Roll extended an invitation to the team to join his philanthropy work with local juvenile centers, homeless shelters, and drug rehabs, reinforcing community ties.

Aside from an award-winning music career and epic weight loss, the country star has been making a splash on the WWE circuit, currently embroiled in a program with Logan Paul.

And he’s been pretty committed to the role. As evidenced by his taking a brutal table spot from Paul’s frog splash like a pro.

“I ride for this team, but damn I’m close,” he told the Titans players. “I lost 200 pounds. Coach, I’m getting a contract if I lose another 50.”
