Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy stared in disbelief as the final seconds ticked away in the Las Vegas Raiders‘ lopsided loss to the Denver Broncos.

What should have been a routine end to a blowout suddenly twisted into chaos—a bizarre delay-of-game penalty on the Broncos, a hurried field goal unit rushing onto the field with no time left, and a meaningless kick that sailed through the uprights.

That kick, with no time remaining on the clock, meant the Raiders lost by seven points instead of ten.

The result, a sure bet on the Broncos (7.5 point favorites) to cover, was lost. As was the under, with the final score 24-17, meaning they beat the 40.5 line.

It turned two sure bets into devastating losses for those who partake in sports betting. Which Portnoy famously does. He wasn’t too happy about it.

Dave Portnoy calls on Pete Carroll to be murdered

Rage boiled over as Portnoy unleashed a furious, expletive-laden tirade that accused the NFL of rigging the game, demanded investigations, and escalated into a shocking threat against Raiders coach Pete Carroll.

The boy done lost his mind.

“That’s the worst beat of all time. You have to investigate the Raiders. Investigate the Raiders!” Portnoy ranted. “What are they doing? What the f***? That is cheating!”

Portnoy, who is a contributor on the Fox college football pregame show Big Noon Kickoff, ratcheted up the insanity.

“Pete Carroll should be in f***ing prison! Prison for Pete Carroll!” he screamed. “Imprison Pete Carroll! Murder Pete Carroll! I want Pete Carroll murdered!”

Portnoy’s stupid shtick on Fox is already wearing thin. But this threat, as facetious as he may be trying to be, should result in his dismissal.

All it takes is one lunatic who lost money on the game to say, ‘Hey, you know what, he’s right.’

Tone it down, brother

Look, everyone knows this is just Dave Portnoy and his little edgy frat boy persona, but making a threat like that against an NFL coach is wholly unacceptable.

In a sane world, everyone would recognize he’s joking. But we don’t live in a sane world. We live in a world where the President almost gets shot twice because of mean tweets and his friend, Charlie Kirk, does actually get murdered.

So tone it down, Dave.

As to the other point, there were a lot of fans who agreed that the end-of-game antics were a bit suspect.

“Why would you say the #NFL is rigged? Just start paying attention, and you’ll see,” one fan wrote, sharing a clip of the ending of the Raiders-Broncos game.

“F*** the NFL!” another fumed. “If you weren’t sure the league was rigged before today, the Raiders kicking a FG to lose but cover the spread is the best evidence to date!”

Fans are understandably a little skittish, especially with star players in both the NBA and MLB on trial for major gambling scandals.

Regardless, what Dave Portnoy did was uncalled for.
