The Detroit Lions took on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday inside Ford Field. They ended up falling by the score of 20-16 to move to 1-1 on the season.

But that’s not close to the entire story here.

Following the game, one person was killed and another was injured in a shooting that took place at a popular tailgate spot.

The incident apparently happened 4:30 PM local time at Eastern Market.

“Tailgating, drinking and guns,” Detroit Police Chief James White said, via the Detroit Free Press. “They don’t mix.”

Reportedly, the man that was killed was one of two individuals looking to engage in a fight after the game. As White said, alcohol and guns just don’t mix. That was obviously the case here.

“It shouldn’t have led to this. You’ve got unfortunately two people shot, one dead. And you have a suspect that’s in custody, that’s, you know, going to be dealing with some very serious charges . . . likely murder,” White said.

We bring them out for every minor conflict. It’s ridiculous. If you’re going to fight, have a fight. Live to fight another day. But everyone has to have a gun, makes them feel tough.”

There are also apparently videos circulating of the incident. We won’t embed them here. But you can click this link if you want to see them. Warning, it’s graphic.

As most of you likely already know, shooting deaths have been a major concern in the city of Detroit in recent years. This is obviously the latest example of that.
