A fan who was struck in the back of the head by a wayward Travis Kelce golf shot at the American Century Championship in Nevada earlier this month is speaking out about the ordeal.
Katie Hauss told People Magazine that what started as a nice day of watching celebrity golfing for charity turned into a nightmare when Kelce went shankopotamus on the 16th hole.
While the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s golf game might lead to some snickering, Hauss’s suffering was not. She got rapped in the back of the head with the ball. Right in the coconut.
“When I got hit, I immediately felt pain,” the 37-year-old said. “I was just trying to focus on not blacking out, and at that point I didn’t really know what had happened.”
“I then heard people start yelling and screaming that it was Travis Kelce’s golf shot, and ‘Oh my god, that girl just got hit in the head.'”
Can you imagine? How mortifying.

Hit In The Melon By A Travis Kelce Golf Ball
Video posted by TMZ shows Hauss, her hair bloodied, interacting with Kelce, who was apologetic over the incident.
“Travis must have walked down as I was still on the ground,” Hauss said. “I just remember seeing him come up and then I don’t remember exactly what he said, but he asked if I was OK. I could tell that he felt really badly.”
“He joked that the least he could do was take a photo with me, so I stood up and joked back that at least the front of me looked OK and wasn’t bleeding if we were going to take a photo.”
She adds that Kelce “couldn’t bring himself to smile given the circumstances.”
The photo does show Kelce looking pretty sheepish.

Joked About Hitting A Spectator
But get this. In a podcast with his brother Jason before the charity golf event, Travis Kelce actually joked about how he’d react if he hit a spectator.
“My advice would be don’t feel bad if you hit somebody because they bought the ticket,” Travis joked.
“It’s a bunch of amateurs out there trying to play golf so don’t feel bad. People have been hit before,” he continued. “They got EMTs, whatever it’s called, they got right there at every hole. Everybody will be fine.”
He was right. EMTs had to tend to Hauss after she got blasted by the Super Bowl champ’s Titleist.
She ended up having to go to the hospital to get a few stitches and was diagnosed with a concussion. But Hauss says she is on the mend, thankfully.
