Star quarterback Shedeur Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes just did not have it last week against Nebraska. Colorado lost by the score of 28-10.
Sanders was sacked six times while throwing one touchdown and an intercption. He was completely outplayed by Nebraska freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola. It moved Colorado to 1-1 on the campaign.
Following the game, Sanders seemed to throw his offensive line under the bus.
“I mean, how many times did Raiola get touched?” Sanders asked, via Sports Illustrated. “Of course, when you’re able to run the ball consistently, that opens up the pass, you know?”
Sure, Colorado’s offensive line has struggled through two games heading into Saturday night’s affair with Colorado State. But it’s not necessarily a good look to throw teammates under the bus. That also seemingly included Buffalo running backs.

One of the greatest college quarterbacks of all-time, Johnny Manziel was having none of Sanders’ criticizing his offensive line.
“If I was an O-lineman at Colorado, I’d be absolutely pissed. I mean, I really just don’t see how you do this,” Manziel said, via the New York Post. “I don’t see how you come and throw your own guys under the bus that you’re working with. Grinding with every single week. Week in and week out.”
Sanders’ comments could create even more self-inflicted drama in Boulder. The quarterback and his father, head coach, Deion Sanders, have been in the news a lot recently for comments on social media.
The two continue to fail to take responsibility for their roles in the program’s struggles since Deion took over last season.
After opening the 2023 campaign with a 3-0 record, Colorado has lost nine of 11 games. The younger Sanders blaming his offensive line is the latest example as it relates to a lack of accountability.
