New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was shot in the abdomen and critically wounded early Sunday morning in Midtown Manhattan. The shooting took place around 2 a.m. after a dispute escalated outside the Sei Less restaurant.
Law enforcement officials tell the New York Post that the assailant fired his weapon twice and then fled the scene.
Boyd was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition, with the Post describing the situation as dire, and the 29-year-old NFL player “clinging to life.”
The Jets issued a very brief statement on the horrific situation.
“We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time,” a team representative said.

Prayers up for Kris Boyd
Boyd, a special teams contributor and reserve cornerback, signed with the Jets in March following stints with the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, and Houston Texans.
He has not appeared in a game this season due to a shoulder injury.
Jets linebacker Jermaine Johnson II asked followers on X to send prayers to his teammate and friend.
“Everybody, please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!” he pleaded. “Lord, please hold your healing hand over Kris and guide him back to health and safety.”

Crime in New York about to get worse
Tragedies such as this are too much, for sure, but not wholly unexpected in a city known for being soft on crime and for wantonly releasing criminals without bail.
And buckle up, New Yorkers, because it’s going to get worse.
Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist, is as soft on crime as any other New York City Democrat. He ran on a platform to decriminalize all misdemeanor charges and has advocated for releasing prisoners from facilities like Rikers Island.
He is strongly supportive of “defund the police” initiatives and would rather have social workers respond to crimes. That should make the city much safer.
Bounding Into Sports is sending out thoughts and prayers as Kris Boyd continues to battle for his life.
