Former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor is considered one of the greatest defensive players in the history of the National Football League.

From 1981-1993, Taylor earned 10 Pro Bowl nods. He made the All-Pro Team eight times, won NFL Defensive Player of the Year three times and helped the Giants to two Super Bowl titles.

Taylor played under legendary coaches Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick, too. What he did on the football field has rarely been duplicated since.

Off the field, it has been a completely different story for a player who went simply as “LT.” The Virginia native has seen his name in police logs over and over again.

Sadly, we have yet another example of this.

According to TMZ Sports, Taylor was arrested in Florida earlier this week after he was accused of failing to follow conditions as a registered sex offender.

“Broward County jail officials tell us … Taylor turned himself in on an outstanding felony warrant on Wednesday at around 5 PM — and was thrown behind bars on one charge of failure to report name or residence change.”

This is the second time in three years that Taylor has been arrested for failing to meet the conditions of his status as a sex offender.

Taylor’s lawyer attempted to downplay the latest incident.

“My client, Lawrence Taylor, will be pleading ‘Not Guilty’ to the recent charges,” Mark Eiglarsh said. “As with the previous incident involving the same allegations, Mr. Taylor did not knowingly commit any criminal offense. This situation is a significant misunderstanding.”

Taylor, 65, was declared a sex offender back in 2021 when he allegedly had a relationship with a 16-year-old girl.

These are not the only off-field incidents relating to Taylor in his post-playing career. The list is long.

  • In 1996, Lawrence Taylor was arrested in South Carolina for allegedly trying to buy $100 work of crack cocaine.
  • He was arrested three times in 1998, including trying to buy crack cocaine from an undercover police officer.

There are also other lesser offenses included in Taylor’s resume. It’s been a dramatic fall from grace for one of the best to ever do it.
