Tom Brady, now part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, will have a significant say in who the team’s next head coach will be
With Josh McDaniels now jettisoned from his position as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, the team will be looking to a proven winner to help determine who will replace him. Minority team owner and seven-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady will be counted on heavily for his input during the hiring process.
Brady, who is believed to own around 5-10% of the franchise, came on board alongside majority owner Mark Davis in mid-2022. It’s been widely reported that the five-time Super Bowl MVP will be an important voice in determining who leads the team onto the field next.
Josh McDaniels was fired, alongside GM Dave Ziegler and offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi, after the team got off to a 3-5 start. McDaniels, who had previously coached the Broncos, hasn’t had a lot of success as a head coach after a terrific run as the offensive coordinator alongside Tom Brady in New England. The fired play-caller had just a 9-16 record in Las Vegas and is 20-33 in his career.
“After much thought about what the Raiders need to move forward, I have decided to part ways with Josh and Dave,” owner Mark Davis said in a statement. “I want to thank them both for their hard work and wish them and their families nothing but the best.”
It was thought it might be a match made in heaven for the former QB and OC ro reunite out in the deserts, but it became quickly clear that a change was needed. Now, it will be up to Davis and Brady to build the franchise under a new philosophy.
While many describe it as ‘The Patriot Way‘? In Sin City… it’s becoming known as ‘The Brady Way’. Much of this is borrowed from Tom Terrific’s former coach and mentor, Bill Belichick.
The pair teamed up for six Super Bowl titles in New England, before Tom Brady grabbed one more on his way out the door with Tampa Bay. Now, he’s looking to have the same success as an NFL owner and executive. Along with his many other endeavors.
Throughout the course of his career and since retirement, Brady has maintained a high-profile status as a pop culture icon. He has appeared in cameo roles in film and television, numerous ads, and commercials – and he was recently named as a spokesman for Delta Airlines.
Of course, football will always be his true calling, and it will be interesting to see what the G.O.A.T. has to offer in terms of hiring and personnel.
For now, linebackers coach (and former New York Giants linebacker) Antonio Pearce has taken rein of the Raiders. And he didn’t look too bad his first time under the headset in Sin City. Las Vegas dominated his former team, defeating the G-Men 30-6 on Sunday. Coming up this week? The Silver and Black will host the Jets on Sunday Night Football.
