Two individuals, Jordan Willis and Ivory Carson, are facing a wrongful death lawsuit following the tragic deaths of three Kansas City Chiefs fans.

The three deceased fans were found frozen to death outside a home that Willis rented following a frigid game back in January of 2024.

Over a year later, police just now filed charges in the case. Willis and Carson were charged last week with involuntary manslaughter and drug distribution in connection with the deaths of Clayton McGeeney, Ricky Johnson, and David Harrington.

Within hours, a lawyer for the family of one of the deceased had filed a wrongful death suit.

“Defendant Willis and Defendant Ivory knew, or through the use of a reasonable degree of care, should have known of the presence of the fentanyl and the dangers and hazards that it posed including the possibility of being lethal to anyone that might ingest it,” a court filing reads.

Chiefs Fans Case Leads To Wrongful Death Suit

The court filing also seems to indicate that the defendants saw what was happening to at least one of the men and did nothing to get him help.

“Once [Harrington] began to suffer from the dangers and hazards of the cocaine and fentanyl, [the two men] failed to render aid or otherwise attempt to rescue decedent from the impacts caused by the cocaine and fentanyl,” the suit reads.

Willis, often referred to in media reports as a “friend” to the men, consistently told investigators he had no idea what happened to his buddies.

The trio had gathered at Willis’s home to watch a Chiefs game, and their bodies weren’t discovered until two days later after McGeeney’s fiancée broke into the house searching for him.

This suit seems to point to a cover-up.

They’ve Pleaded Not Guilty

Autopsies revealed that all three Chiefs fans died from a combination of fentanyl and cocaine toxicity, with the drugs allegedly linked to Carson. Carson admitted to selling cocaine to the group.

Willis initially tried to claim he didn’t know what happened to his friends because he fell asleep for over 48 hours. He still maintains his innocence.

“It has been a very, very long year for Jordan,” his lawyer stated after the charges were filed.

“He’s lost his job. He’s lost his home. He’s lost his friends. The public are pointing at him as someone who essentially killed them. And nothing could be further from the truth.”

I guess that’s better than becoming a popsicle in the backyard of someone you thought was a friend.

Willis and Carson were charged following a nearly 14-month investigation by Kansas City police.

The charges include three counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of delivering a controlled substance. Prosecutors emphasized the case is a warning about the dangers of street drugs.

The wrongful death lawsuit is seeking a total of $100,000 in damages, which seems extraordinarily low.

Carson and Willis have both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
