Washington Commanders’ quarterback Jayden Daniels provided insight into who he believes is responsible for the miracle Hail Mary pass that carried his team to victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
It’s called a Hail Mary for a reason. It’s when the game is in the hands of a higher power and you need the strength of prayer to help with a desperate situation.
Even beyond that, Daniels gave God credit for his even being on the field for the game at all.
“Nothing but God, man. Nothing but God,” Daniels told CBS reporter Tracy Wolfson. “Without Him I don’t think I’d be playing this week. But man, all glory to God.”
A beautiful and welcome sentiment we don’t hear much anymore these days. Certainly, this kid was given otherworldly talent!
Daniels injured his ribs a week earlier and it wasn’t clear he’d be able to suit up for the game against the Bears. Not only did he play, but he delivered one of the most memorable moments of the season.

Not Everybody Had Their Prayers Answered
While Jayden Daniels represents the thrill of victory in this situation, Bears defensive back Tyrique Stevenson represents the agony of defeat.
Stevenson shocked the NFL world when he began the final play of the game with his back to the line of scrimmage, taunting fans in the stands as the ball was snapped. He was nowhere near paying attention to what was going on.
Stevenson’s lapse in concentration proved costly as Daniels launched the Hail Mary pass downfield.
The Bears DB managed to get to the ball, but he tipped it to wide receiver Noah Brown for the miracle touchdown as time expired.
The bone-headed play resulted in a Bears loss, 18-15. And Stevenson was forced to apologize to fans for his behavior.
“To Chicago and teammates my apologies for lack of awareness and focus …. The game ain’t over until zeros hit the clock. Can’t take anything for granted,” he said.
Oh my god this is hilarious.

Jayden Daniels Thanks God
Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has consistently acknowledged his faith and its role in his success, praising God after he won the Heisman trophy at LSU.
In his Heisman trophy acceptance speech, Daniels made sure to give credit where credit was due, thanking God for the opportunities and blessings that led him to this incredible achievement.
“He’s my rock, my Savior,” he said. “He blessed me with the talents and ability to get here, all the special people here to develop these skills.”
LSU’s signal caller has said in the past that he has had moments where he struggled with his faith.
“I kind of got back into my faith more, always giving glory to God. He died on the cross for us; anything is possible with him,” Daniels has said.
The Commanders are alone in first place in the NFC East thanks to the Hail Mary. The turnaround this franchise has seen this season may be a miracle unto its own.
