Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is defending Taylor Swift after the crowd at Super Bowl LIX booed her harshly.

The Chiefs were trounced by the Philadelphia Eagles in the game, but things got off to a negative start right off the bat when Swift’s mug was put up on the Jumbotron. Did it portend things to come?

The pop star was shown on the big screen during pre-game festivities and was clearly taken aback by the crowd’s reaction. She gave a side-eye look, did a double take, and then leaned down to say something to the person in front of her.

“What’s going on?” she wondered.

Outside of Arrowhead Stadium and separate from the televised fawning by the NFL, it turns out fans aren’t as big on the music phenom.

But the big man in red sure is.

Andy Reid With A Message To Tay Tay

Andy Reid, in a conversation with Pro Football Talk, defended Taylor Swift as a “good girl” and noted that her handling of criticism has been admirable.

“She’s a good girl,” said Reid. “She handles that whole thing the right way. That’s a tough deal. She does a great job of handling it.”

The three-time Super Bowl champion and former AP NFL Coach of the Year also gave props to tight end Travis Kelce for his handling of the attention over his romance with Swift.

“Kelce, I think, does a great job with handling it,” he said.

Swift, he assured the Swifties, is as much a part of Chiefs Nation as any of the other wives and girlfriends of players.

“She’s part of the team and, like the other girlfriends and wives, they’re part of it,” said Reid. “And that’s all part of the process.”

Kelce Didn’t Handle The Booing Quite As Well

At least Andy Reid is handling the Taylor Swift controversy with the kind of attitude one would expect. Kelce didn’t handle it well at all. In fact, he was sadder than that haircut sitting atop his dome.

“Travis was aware of Taylor getting booed, and he felt helpless. Seeing the look on her face got to him,” a friend of Kelce’s recently explained.

“He always protects her and it broke his heart. He was already having a tough night and the fact that the stadium was predominantly Eagles fans didn’t help. Travis knows that this hurt her and anyone can see this.”

Bro, you and Swift can go ahead and wipe away the tears with $100 bills while polishing up your three Super Bowl rings. It’s gonna be okay.

Kelce is currently wrestling with a decision on whether or not to retire from the NFL. He had a down season this year, but the Super Bowl must have left a bad taste in his mouth.

“I told him ‘Get away. Don’t think about all that. Just relax man. Chill down, and then we got time for that,” Reid said. “I know it’s out there that there is a deadline, but he and I talk all the time. So, I’ll figure it out from him.”

The NFL certainly will want him back. Kelce and Swift’s romance has been a huge cash cow for the league.
