Philadelphia mayor Cherelle Parker went viral for completely mangling the spelling of her team’s name during a chant before the Eagles’ victory over the Rams in the NFC divisional round game.

Parker addressed the spelling mistake at a press conference on Tuesday after the episode went viral. After initially getting people to point and laugh at her, she’s brushing off the incident with a little more humor.

“We don’t promise perfection,” she told reporters. “I’m so happy I never have, especially after I couldn’t spell Eagles right.”

The admission prompted reporters and those in attendance at the press conference to break out in laughter.

Philly Mayor Pokes Fun At Herself After Misspelling ‘Eagles’

Philadelphia mayor Cherelle Parker handled the light-hearted situation about as well as you could. A little self-deprecating humor goes a long way in taking the heat off.

People probably aren’t going to be too impressed with the leader of their city being unable to spell basic words.

Parker, you may recall, went viral for trying to start a chant by spelling her beloved Eagles’ name, but unfortunately, it was super-heavy in consonants.

“Let me hear you all say, E-L-G-S-E-S, Eagles!” she shouted. “Let’s go, birds!”

Or did she mean ‘B-R-S-I-D’ Birds?

Parker’s gaffe went viral, reminiscent of a similar video from a year ago in which an Eagles fan couldn’t spell her team’s name either. I mean, it’s only two syllables long, people.

Elgses Set To Take On The Commanders

Apparently, a local radio station in DC poked fun at the Philadelphia Mayor’s spelling error, creating shirts that say “FLY ELGSES FLY” in Washington’s colors.

It seems everybody is having fun with it.

The Eagles are set to take on the Commanders Sunday in an all-NFC East NFC championship game. Philadelphia is a 6-point favorite.

The two have already faced each other twice this season, with each team winning the contest on their own turf.

This third game, though, has much higher stakes. The winner will face off either against the Kansas City Refs Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl LIX.
