Former NFL MVP Adrian Peterson is once again in legal hot water, this time facing arrest warrants in Texas for failing to appear in court for two separate child support cases.

USA Today reports that the 2012 MVP, who earned over $100 million during his career, had these warrants issued in Fort Bend County.

Peterson’s publicist, Denise White, stated that the legal issue stems from a misunderstanding about the court appearances, and he is working with his legal team to fix the situation.

“The current legal case is related to a misunderstanding regarding Adrian’s court appearances as it relates to child support, and he is actively working with his legal team to resolve this matter as quickly as possible,” White said.

“He is committed to clearing up this situation and moving forward positively.”

Adrian Peterson’s Financial Troubles

This past September, a Houston judge mandated that former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson relinquish numerous assets in an effort to settle an overwhelming debt exceeding $12 million.

This legal action stemmed from a $5.2 million loan Peterson took out in 2016.

The loan was intended at the time to manage previous debts but has since ballooned due to interest and legal judgments against him, according to ESPN’s Field Level Media.

The court’s decision involved the potential seizure of personal assets, which included memorabilia from his storied career, including NFL trophies and jerseys.

Peterson made over $103 million during his illustrious career in the NFL. When he took out the loan in 2016, he had accumulated over $94 million, according to Sportrac.

People should have been taking out loans with him, not the other way around. And yet, he clearly found himself in financial hot water.

Adrian Peterson has found himself in legal trouble over the years as well. Not just of the deadbeat dad variety as indicated by arrest warrants over child support.

The former seven-time Pro Bowler and three-time rushing yard leader was famously indicted on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child in 2016 but avoided a jail sentence after reaching a plea agreement.

He was suspended and fined by the league but had those punishments overturned on appeal. The NFL though, would eventually win their own appeal overturning that ruling.

Peterson was also involved in an incident with his wife on a plane in 2022. Those charges were dropped after she indicated it was nothing more than an argument.
