The Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is still recovering from his team’s bad Super Bowl beating at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this month. Now, Kelce is trying to figure out if he wants to retire or not.
At 35, he is definitely no spring chicken when it comes to playing the tight end position – so it’s a real dilemma.
As Kelce struggles to make this decision, insiders are saying that he is enjoying the quiet life with his girlfriend Taylor Swift. It could be that in just a few months, Kelce will decide he likes the domesticated life more than getting slammed around by 300-pound men.
Kelce’s ‘Sense Of Relief’ With Swift
A source told US Weekly that “there’s a sense of relief” for Kelce and Swift, both 35. Indeed, the couple is reportedly enjoying “laying low” as they figure out Kelce’s next steps together.
“There’s no way to have a relationship when they’re all over the place with work,” a second source explained. “It’s going to be easier now to find time to go over plans and make sure everything aligns.”
The first source chimed back in to say that Swift and Kelce plan to spend the next few months in Kansas City.
“They both want to rest and decompress,” this insider said. “Neither of them have huge commitments coming up.”
“They do love going out to dinner and getting drinks with friends, but when they get the chance to be home together, they are very low-key,” the source continued, adding that Swift “cooks a lot for Travis. It’s his love language.”
The source went on to say that Swift has been focused on helping Kelce get over his Super Bowl loss. She’s reportedly “just trying to be there for Travis as much as possible” during this difficult time.
Which is pretty much all you can do in that situation, when someone is just steps from the summit but can’t quite get there.
Before the Super Bowl, Kelce’s father Ed told reporters that his son was looking forward to having some downtime with Swift.
“I think we get past the Super Bowl, I think it’s going to be a very good period for the two of them without the NFL season, without the Eras Tour,” Ed said earlier this month. “Just them alone, really connecting more. And I think that can only be a good thing.”

Kelce Considers Retirement
Kelce certainly has quite a decision to make. The Chiefs have given him until March 14 to decide if he wants to play another season or retire.
“I know everybody wants to know whether or not I’m playing next year, and right now I’m just kicking everything down the road,” Kelce said on his New Heights podcast immediately after the Super Bowl. “I’m kicking every can I can down the road.”
The first source explained that Kelce “was hoping he’d end his career on a high.” After the brutal Super Bowl defeat, the insider claimed that “he’s reconsidering what he wants moving forward. He may come back next season.”

Will Kelce Propose To Swift?
Aside from Kelce’s retirement plans, fans are also eager to see if he will be proposing marriage to Swift anytime soon.
“Those close to them actually think [Travis may do it] while they’re on vacation,” the second source alleged. The first insider added, “They are both on the same page about taking the next step.”
This is certainly an exciting time for Kelce and Swift! With so many huge decisions to make, we hope that they are finding ways to relax as well. In the end, it will be interesting to see if Kelce plays another season, or decides to call it quits now.
