Football fans are a wild bunch. Their latest reaction to a kind gesture of hurricane relief from Tom Brady is yet another example.
Brady posted a message on social media letting fans know he’d be donating a not-insignificant amount of $100,000 to relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Milton.
“In the wake of Hurricane Milton, I’ll be making a donation of $100k to help get essentials like food, water and first aid to fellow Floridians in need,” Brady said.
“Keep those impacted by these storms in your prayers, look out for your neighbors, and continue to help out any way you’re able,” the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback continued.
“Stay safe, and stay strong Florida.”
Naturally, though, no good deed goes unpunished.
Fans Rip Tom Brady Over $100k Donations to Hurricane Relief
There are several celebrities out there who have donated significant sums to hurricane relief in recent days. Country stars Morgan Wallen and Dolly Parton come to mind.
Wallen donated $500,000 following Hurricane Helene’s path of destruction through Georgia and the Carolinas. Parton initially donated $1 million, then upped the total to $2 million.
Pop star Taylor Swift donated an eye-watering $5 Million to help Hurricane Milton and Helene victims.
With that backdrop, fans felt entitled enough to suggest Brady’s donation was a little on the ‘cheap’ side.
“Why not 1 million? This is like me donating $1000 lol, pathetic,” one fan responded.
There is a roughly 0% chance that this individual actually donated $100, let alone $1,000 to hurricane relief.
Math and percentages of net worth seemed to be the topic du jour for fans who felt Tom Brady didn’t donate enough money to the hurricane relief effort.
“Fine that he’s doing that but I read that his net worth is $300 million. $100K represents .000333 of his worth plus he will write 100% of that off,” one man complained.
“It’s like me giving $500. Again, nice he is doing so but I spent $500 at Costco the other day for NC and didn’t post about it,” he said, clearly posting about it.
Another whined, “Thanks but that is like $10 to me. Every little bit helps I guess.”

Good Work, Tom
Yes, every little bit does help. Criticizing Tom Brady for a sizable donation that will go a long way toward providing relief to hurricane victims just because you don’t feel it’s enough is thoroughly hypocritical. Did y’all pony up yourself or just pretend you had in an effort to make him look bad?
Not everybody was a critic.
“Thank you for helping our community. You are the π!” one woman responded.
Brady is currently a commentator for the NFL on FOX. In that role, he signed a 10-year contract worth $375 million to join Fox Sports.
He also owns a waterfront mansion in Miami.
