Earlier this week, we reported that the Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Tershawn “Turk” Wharton was being hailed as a hero after catching a young fan who had fallen from the bleachers after Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.
Now, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is opening up about this incident and admitting that he saw it go down, yet did nothing to help the boy.

Fan Falls From Stands – Kelce Responds
But first, check out the harrowing moment for yourself in the video below.
“I actually saw this and I just kept on moving,” Kelce, 35, admitted on his “New Heights” podcast on Wednesday. “I felt bad after.”
Despite this, Kelce knew the young fan would be alright, as he saw that Wharton was right there to catch him.
“I’m like over to the left … I was like, ‘Oh [expletive]. You got him, Turk? Hell yeah, Turk’s got him!’” he recounted.
Kelce’s older brother Jason, a former Philadelphia Eagles player, described Wharton’s save as being the “play of the game.”
The little boy, who was decked out in a Nick Bolton jersey, fell over the railing at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. He did this as he asked for autographs while the Chiefs were walking into their locker room.

Kelce Tells Child To Sue The Panthers
Kelce went on to joke that the boy should sue the Panthers for having a stadium that lacks better safety measurements.
“I don’t know who the brainiac was that cut the railing there,” Kelce said while watching footage of the boy falling. “What the [expletive] is the gap for?
“He should [expletive] go to school with a neck brace on and sue the Panthers,” he continued. “Get rich quick, kid.”

Wharton Sounds Off
Wharton, 26, opened up about this incident earlier this week.
“I would say it was a natural reaction. Usually when I leave a game, [I] try to throw my gloves in the crowd, and I think I heard my name a little bit, and when I heard my name, I seen him coming down,” Wharton recalled on Tuesday.
“It was two security guards right there, I don’t think they realized what I was doing because they were looking at us but I just had to kinda like push him into the stands a little bit to make sure he didn’t hit too hard,” he added.
Check out Wharton’s full comments on this in the video below.
Wharton was an undrafted free agent out of Missouri S&T when he signed with the Chiefs back in 2020. He has since won two Super Bowls with Kelce.
During Sunday’s game, Wharton registered two tackles. This helped to give the Chiefs a much-needed win after the team suffered their first loss of the season to the Buffalo Bills last week.
If it weren’t for Wharton’s quick thinking, this story easily could have had an ending that was much less happier. In the end, the Chiefs are lucky to have a player with as quick reflexes as Wharton clearly possesses!
