Fans of the pop star Taylor Swift are speculating that she may have dumped her Kansas City Chiefs tight end boyfriend Travis Kelce in the wake of his team’s humiliating Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.
Such a theory dovetails with the general theory that the relationship has all along been more or less a scheme to concoct higher ratings for the NFL among women – which succeeded, by the way.
Swift Flees New Orleans After Super Bowl
Swift, 35, looked on helplessly at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans as the Eagles took home the Super Bowl by defeating the Chiefs 40-22. On Monday night, Swift was seen making a quick exit from New Orleans.

Swift pulled up to her private jet at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport the day after the big game. As she exited her vehicle, she was protected by multiple people holding umbrellas over her – which some speculate was meant to hide her identity.
Despite this, Swift’s eagle-eyed fans were able to catch sight of her anyway thanks to the only piece of her outfit that was visible: a pair of ruby red loafers. Many Swifties agreed that this was a nod to the iconic ruby red slippers from the classic 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz.
However, the footwear also got Swift’s super-fans talking. This is because she has been known to use her outfit choices as Easter Eggs for upcoming new music. Swift’s choice to wear red slippers on this particularly day led her fans to question what statement she could be trying to make with them.

Fan Theory Goes Viral
One wild fan theory gained particular traction online as it went viral. According to this theory, Kelce’s Super Bowl defeat spelled the end of his relationship with Swift.
“It almost feels too spot on for everything that we have been talking about for the past couple of months and years with the Wizard of Oz and the stories that Taylor has been telling,” the social media user behind the theory began. “I feel that really ramped up towards the end of the Eras Tour where a lot of us were really expecting there to be some sort of closure or full circle moment that we didn’t get.”
“So the fact that after the Super Bowl the last game of the season, we see Taylor leaving in her Ruby Red Slippers… the show is over,” the Swiftie continued. “We’re waking up from the dream. It’s very much like the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy wakes up, realizes it’s all a dream, clacks her heels and goes back home.”
This fan believes that Swift has “ghosted” Kelce in the wake of this loss. According to the theory, Swift is done with him and the football world, and she’s heading back to her reality. While far-fetched, it fits nicely in its own logic.
“I do feel like Taylor Swift ghosted after the Super Bowl and she’s going to lie low, we won’t see her for a couple of weeks,” the fan concluded. “When she picks up and continues with the story, I’m very excited to see where it goes.”
Other Swifties Weigh In
This theory immediately went viral. Some fans commented that Swift’s “ruby red slippers” could be her way of saying that “We’re not in Kansas anymore.” Indeed, this is one of the character Dorothy’s most iconic Wizard of Oz lines. Could Swift be telling her fans that she’s not in Kansas City anymore?
Others referenced Dorothy’s famous line “there’s no place like home.” These fans think Swift could be referencing tiring of Kansas City. They believe that she wants to spend more time at her homes in New York City and Los Angeles.
“She woke up from her dream of love and is going home,” one fan commented.
Swift and Kelce have been dating since September of 2023. Swift seemed to have a blast cheering Kelce on to his Super Bowl victory in 2024. Sunday night, however, appeared to be a far more negative experience for her. On this occasion, Swift found herself being viciously booed when her face was shown on the jumbotron during the game. Was that the last straw for her?
