Former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce was forced into eating a little humble pie on Monday. Kelce, a former Super Bowl champion turned Monday Night Countdown analyst for ESPN, had to issue an apology for his interaction with a fan over the weekend, which included smashing the kid’s phone.
As many of our readers already know, Kelce was harassed and heckled by an obnoxious Penn State fan who hurled homophobic slurs and taunts about his brother Travis.
While we don’t care to repeat the comments because of how vile they were, Jason didn’t hold back. He lobbed them right back at the heckler and added in a smashing of his cell phone for good measure.
As I’ve stated before, Kelce had a right to respond to the jackass if it was a personal altercation. But he was working as an ESPN personality.
The problem here is that he smashed the guyâs phone and then repeated the slur at least three times.

Jason Kelce Issues Apology For Smashing Fan’s Phone
As predicted, Jason Kelce, having smashed the fan’s phone in his capacity as an ESPN commentator, was forced into an apology for his actions.
“I think everybody’s seen on social media everything that took place this week,” he said as the pre-game show for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicked off.
“Listen, I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it,” he added. “In a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that’s a productive thing. I really don’t.”

Kelce indicated that he tries to live by the standard of treating others with “decency and respect” but this guy somehow made him snap.
“I fell short this week, but I’m going to do that moving forward and continue to do that.”
Ongoing Investigation
Make no mistake, there is absolutely no sympathy for this fan here. I’m glad he had his phone smashed. Would have even been okay with someone coming in and rag-dolling his 120 lb. frame.
Anybody other than Jason Kelce. He’s now risked a fine or suspension at ESPN for his actions. It wasn’t worth it.
Additionally, it seems that Penn State’s Police and Public Safety agencies are engaged in an “ongoing” investigation into the matter.
More footage online shows Kelce getting knocked to the ground by the kid as they both go for the phone that appears to initially have been dropped when the two got too close together.

Regardless of what action ESPN takes with Kelce, the investigation needs to focus on this kid. He needs to be suspended and his scholarships revoked for instigating the fight, if not for assault for knocking him down.
