Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur was caught on video getting into a heated exchange with a Detroit Lions fan on the field before his team’s Thursday night game.
The fan, among others, was on the field before the national anthem was sung, part of a pregame ceremony.
A clip on social media shows LaFleur getting very animated. He even appeared to shout the words, “Shut the f*** up” to the man wearing a Lions jersey.
The NFL Gameday cast described the altercation as “spicy.”
A handful of Green Bay players and coaches appeared to have LaFleur’s back during the scrum, but referees were able to intervene before things went south.
The fan gestured for the crowd to make some noise, clearly pleased that he had gotten under the Packer’s head coach’s skin.

LaFleur Jawing With A Lions Fan
Remarkably, LaFleur can be seen trying to go back out to keep things going with the Lions fan and having to be pulled off to the sidelines yet again.
It’s hard to imagine what the fan said to make the Green Bay coach so irate. But LaFleur’s post-game comments don’t seem to indicate anything rising to the level that should have baited him into even entertaining the guy.
“I’ve never been a part of something like that,” LaFleur said, according to NBC Sports. “He was talking junk to our players, given them the throat slash sign, I’m trying to de-escalate it and then he gets in my face. I thought it was pretty unsportsmanlike.”
“I’ve never seen that. I’ve been on many fields and usually they police that much better,” he added. “I thought it was an arrogant fan that wanted to get in part of the action, and I would like to see security or something step in there and get him out of there. Because he shouldn’t be doing that.”

Who Is In The Wrong?
Bro, a Detroit Lions fan was “talking junk,” and that was enough to drive you over the edge? The throat slash sign? Oh, heavens. How would you ever survive?
Grow some thicker skin, coach.
I’m sorry, but it was LaFleur who walked off the sideline to engage the fan. If he stays put, that dude will be just a footnote to the pre-game ceremony. Now, he’ll be doing talk shows because you gave him exactly what he wanted—a chance to be part of the action.
Not only did the Lions fan win, but his team did as well. Detroit dropped Green Bay 34-31 to move to a 12-1 record on the season.
One fan. Two wins in one night.
