Kansas City-based NFL reporter Pete Mundo of 95.7 FM sparked controversy by questioning whether Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce would speak to the media following a team loss.
That in itself isn’t exactly a controversial stand in reality. Kelce, a team leader, has been ducking reporters after losses for several weeks, even more so after Kansas City was eliminated from playoff contention. You’d think a guy who loves attention would show some character and man up by answering questions when times are tough. Not Trav, however.
Mundo posted on X: “WILL TRAVIS KELCE TALK TO THE MEDIA AFTER THIS LOSS? -200 odds he passes, per usual, after a loss. Hope I’m wrong.”
This was after the Chiefs lost to the Tennessee Titans, one of the worst teams in the league, 26-9. It marked their fourth straight loss and dropped their record to 6-9 on the season.
Mundo’s comment highlighted Kelce’s pattern of skipping postgame interviews and addressing performance issues on his podcast “New Heights” rather than facing local and national reporters directly.

Taylor Swift fans respond
The post quickly drew sharp responses from Taylor Swift fans, known as Swifties, a rabid group of people with little knowledge of football beyond Kelce being the pop star’s fiance.
Most of the comments accused Mundo of unfairly singling out Kelce. Which is absurd considering Travis touted a revenge tour after losing last year’s Super Bowl, and when you take into account he’s the highest-profile offensive player on the team.
His thoughts matter.
“He hardly had the ball , so shut up . Maybe other who played bad and had a hand in the game should speak,” one irate Karen wrote. “Why is he the only one you care about speaking, do you need his attention or something?”
That is laughably ironic when you consider nobody loves attention more than Kelce and Taylor Swift.
“And why should he talk to you? Did he get the ball in the second half?” another Swiftie chimed in so elegantly. “No, so what do you b**** a** want from him?”
I dunno, accountability maybe?
Whole coaching staff sucks , but this loser only cares about Kelce . Let me guess you need some attention https://t.co/HquYv939zu

Swifties assemble
While some critiques focused on Kelce’s media avoidance, others veered into personal attacks, prompting Mundo to respond by highlighting the intensity of the backlash.
“The Nasty Swifties found a post of mine again,” he said in response to the fans.
This incident underscores ongoing tensions between NFL media scrutiny of Kelce’s accountability and the protective fervor of Swift’s fanbase.
These rubes have absolutely no knowledge of football (they want Andy Reid fired for chrissakes), and their rabid defense of Kelce and Taylor Swift has been a dynamic that has persisted throughout their relationship.
They’ve just gotten a lot worse as the Chiefs have struggled the past two seasons.
