It’s been a busy couple of weeks for former Michael Oher. The subject of the film, The Blind Side, has not only been engaged in a war of words so to speak with his former adoptive family, the Tuohys, but he’s also been busy pushing his new book.

Oher was in Baltimore this week to meet and greet fans, as well as sign copies of his latest memoir When Your Back’s Against the Wall: Fame, Football, and Lessons Learned Through a Lifetime of Adversity. He declined to speak to reporters though about his petition to end the Tuohy family’s conservatorship.

“This book, it means a lot to me,” Oher told Fox News. “Basically, it’s a playbook on life and how I continue to fight back and when your back’s against the wall. That’s how I’ve felt all my life.

“My most important lesson in the playbook right here is looking yourself in the mirror and if you’re going through anything, I don’t care what it is, you have every answer that you need to get over what’s going on,” he added. “I just want to thank you all for coming. I really appreciate it.”

Michael Oher’s recent claims that Shawn and Lee Ann Tuohy tricked him into signing a conservatorship and then used it to make money from The Blind Side have been dominating the news cycle.

However, with talks likely taking place between both sides, it’s doubtful either part will spill too many beans publicly.

At 6’5″ and 309 pounds, Oher was the 23rd overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Ravens. He would also play for the Titans and Panthers before retiring in 2016. He was a member of Baltimore’s Super Bowl XLVII Championship team. He married his longtime girlfriend (and the mother of his three children) in 2022, after having already spent 17 years together.
