The estate of the late O.J. Simpson will begin auctioning off prized possessions – including his 1968 Heisman trophy – in an effort to pay off a portion of the money owed to the family of murder victim Ron Goldman.

The auction plan was approved by a probate judge in Las Vegas.

Among the items being prepped for purchase are the aforementioned Heisman trophy, O.J.’s golf clubs (which he used in his neverending pursuit to find the real killer), his SUV, and even his driver’s license.

The auction is part of a broader effort to sell Simpson’s “unique and high-profile personal property” to maximize the value of his estate for creditors and interested parties.

The auction is expected to attract significant interest from the public, given Simpson’s notoriety. There will certainly be buyers with interest in the macabre who will want O.J.’s posessions.

O.J. Simpson’s Heisman Will Help Pay The Goldman Family

If you’re wondering, no, the SUV in question isn’t that SUV. The white Ford Bronco from the infamous O.J. Simpson chase is currently on display at the Alcatraz East Crime Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

But more on that later.

Simpson died at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada in April after battling prostate cancer. He was 76.

Simpson was famously acquitted in 1995 of the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. Despite the acquittal, a jury found him liable for their deaths in a civil suit and ordered him to pay $33.5 million to family members of Brown and Goldman.

Simpson never paid the civil suit, according to Fred Goldman, father of one of his victims.

“He murdered my son!” Goldman told the Las Vegas Journal-Review. “He never paid a penny, not one single penny.”

The Goldman family has filed a creditor claim against Simpson’s estate for $117 million, which includes interest.

Paying From The Grave

Man, if only those guys who stole memorabilia from O.J. Simpson in the first place – allegedly – simply held out long enough, they could have obtained it at auction legally.

Instead of being held at gunpoint by ‘the Juice’. Could have saved themselves a lot of trouble.

Following the Simpson-Goldman civil suit, there were three renewed judgments against O.J. from 2015, 2016, and 2022.

In the days after Simpson’s death, his estate attorney Malcolm LaVergne bitterly promised the Goldman family would “get zero, nothing.”

Now, it seems, they’re finally going to get something, albeit very little and holding no value compared to the loss of their son.

Oh, and as for the Ford Bronco? The vehicle is going up for auction later this year. The owners – Simpson’s former agent Michael Gilbert and two friends of Al Cowlings – are asking for $1.5 million in a public or private sale.
