We’re roughly a week removed from the incident involving Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill ahead of their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday.

By now, you likely already know that Hill was detained by members of the Miami-Dade Police Department outside Hard Rock Stadium as he attempted to make his way to the game. Hill was detained for a driving violation and speeding.

Videos at the scene showed Hill being thrown to the ground in a violent manner. It led to one officer being put on administrative duties as the department conducts an internal investigation. Meanwhile, Hill and his agent have called for officer Danny Torres to be fired.

We now have some more information on this. And it’s not a great look for the police department. According to Andy Slater of Fox Sports 640 in Miami, Torres has a long track record.

During his 27-year career with the Miami-Dade Police Department, Torres has been suspended six times. Here is a look at the incidents in question.

That’s absolutely ridiculous. Torres is only making news right now because of how he handled a situation relating to a star NFL player. Imagine how many other incidents have happened during his more than a quarter-century with the police department.

“After a careful and thorough review of the multiple body cameras and concern citizens’ videos that captured the unfortunate events that transpired on Sunday, September 8, 2024, between several officers of the Miami Dade Police Department and Tyreek Hill, we are demanding for the immediate termination of the officer that has been placed on administrative leave,” Hill’s lawyer said in a statement.

Hill declared the same in a presser ahead of Thursday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

“He had some crazy words toward them and they ain’t even do nothing. Like, what did they do to you? They were just walking on the sidewalk,” the star receiver said. “He gotta go man.”

This obviously is not going to die down any time soon. At some point, the leadership of the Miami-Dade Police Department might have to act.
