Apparently, jettisoned Josh McDaniels was not well-liked by his fellow co-workers during his time as Las Vegas’ head coach
Recently terminated Las Vegas Raiders head coach was reported to have been “a shell of himself” after being lambasted by players and staff during a pre-practice meeting.
The Halloween meet-up was originally scheduled so McDaniels, 47, could potentially rally the troops and possibly save his tenuous position. He wanted to clear the air and start over fresh in the locker room. Unfortunately, it ended up backfiring on Him
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the meeting took place hours before practice. it seems more brutal than that, with players and coaches taking turns “ripping” McDaniels his coaching style.
McDaniels reportedly didn’t say much during the meeting as he listened to complaints. And there were obviously plenty.
Josh McDaniels was fired, alongside GM Dave Ziegler and offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi, after the team got off to a 3-5 start. McDaniels had just a 9-16 record in Las Vegas and is 20-33 in his career, after having previously coached the Denver Broncos from 2009-2010.
“After much thought about what the Raiders need to move forward, I have decided to part ways with Josh and Dave,” owner Mark Davis said in a statement. “I want to thank them both for their hard work and wish them and their families nothing but the best.”
Apparently, the rest of the team agreed. Except for maybe that last part – the one about wishing him the best.
No reports have surfaced as to who will be the potential replacement for Josh McDaniels, although the search is in legendary hands.
The seven-time Super Bowl winner and Raiders minority owner Tom Brady will help assist Mark Davis in the decision on who will be the next head coach in Sin City.
