The Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is speaking out this week to open up about his role in Ryan Murphy’s new FX television series Grotesque.

‘It’s Been So Much Fun’

Kelce, 34, gushed over his acting role on the show on Tuesday’s episode of his New Heights podcast.

“It’s been so much fun,” he said. “Ryan Murphy is [an] unbelievable writer, director, producer, all of the above, man. He’s just — there’s nothing he can’t do and everybody’s just been so helpful in making me feel comfortable.”

Kelce went on to praise Murphy for giving him the “coaching” he needs to carry out one of his first acting roles successfully.

“I feel like an amateur,” he admitted. “And, uh, I haven’t gotten fired yet so we’re doing good. They haven’t told me to f—ing kick rocks after the first week, so it’s been awesome.”

Kelce ‘Shocked’ Murphy Cast Him

Kelce also said that he was “shocked” that Murphy was willing to cast him in such a major show.

“I was kinda blown away and kinda, like, shocked that he was willing to give me a role like this, because it is a big role on the show,” he said of Murphy, who “seemed very confident” in his acting abilities.

“Hopefully I don’t bomb this for him,” Kelce concluded.

It was announced on May 7 that Kelce would be joining the cast of Grotesque. The boyfriend of Taylor Swift will be starring on this show alongside Niecy-Nash Betts, Courtney B Vance and Lesley Manville in the new series, according to Deadline. Further details about the series, which is set to air in the fall, are being kept under wraps.

Kelce’s History In TV

Kelce has some experience in television, as he starred in the 2016 reality dating show Catching Kelce, which saw 50 women from each state in the U.S. competing for his love. He also showed off his acting skills last year when he hosted Saturday Night Live! after the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, earning rave reviews in the process.

On top of that, Kelce has signed on to host the game show Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity? on Amazon Prime. The show is a spinoff of the game show Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?

After hosting Saturday Night Live!, Kelce signed on with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to manage his off-field representation. This major talent agency represents such A-list stars as Tom Hanks, Zendaya, and Reese Witherspoon.

Since going public with his relationship with Swift in September of last year, Kelce has become more famous than ever. It’s no wonder that Hollywood has taken notice and is clamoring to cast him in various projects.

As for Murphy, he’s one of the biggest names in television. He’s produced such hit shows as Glee, American Horror Story, Pose, and Feud. He’s clearly taken a gamble in casting someone with as little acting experience as Kelce in his new show. It remains to be seen if it will pay off!
