Happy Gilmore 2 was released on Netflix this past weekend, nearly three decades after the original 1996 cult classic. The film features Adam Sandler reprising his role as the hot-tempered former hockey player-turned-golfer alongside returning stars Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald.
The film, directed by Kyle Newacheck, follows Happy’s comeback to golf to fund his daughter’s ballet school tuition. Thus far, it has earned mixed reviews for its nostalgic yet chaotic blend of humor and an endless sea of cameos.
Those cameos included, among others, Bad Bunny as Happy’s new caddy, Paige Spiranac appearing as a woman working for Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Travis Kelce as an angry waiter.
Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs star tight end, expressed his excitement and disbelief at landing a role in the film.
Kelce shared behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram, featuring himself with Sandler, his father Ed, and golf legend Jack Nicklaus, calling the experience “surreal.”
“Man this life is crazy!!” Kelce captioned the incredible photos. “Still so surreal I got this opportunity.”
“SANDMAN!! Thank you, brotha, for the opportunity and for giving us all ‘Happy Gilmore 2’! Everybody, go check it out right now!”
Travis Kelce killed it in Happy Gilmore 2
In the film, Travis Kelce plays a hotel waiter, appearing in scenes where he antagonizes Bad Bunny’s character, Oscar. Spoiler alert: There is a memorable fantasy sequence involving honey and a bear. We can’t say any more.
Sandler praised Kelce’s comedic performance during an appearance on the “New Heights” podcast last week.
“You guys just go, ‘All right, if I’m doing this, I might as well be great at this,’” Sandler said of Kelce and his brother, Jason. “Travis was locked in; he had to kind of be a bad guy.”
He also pointed out how Kelce didn’t want to be mean to Bunny (Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) because he’s genuinely a nice dude.
“You two guys were amazing together,” Sandler said. “He was so sweet, and you had to be a little bit of a louse to him. You didn’t like doing it because you love the guy. You had to be mean to Benito, but we got it done, and you look cool.”
Kelce agreed, calling Ocasio genuinely “hilarious.”
“Bad Bunny is just naturally funny as (expletive), and I don’t know if people aren’t around him enough. They are going to find out in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ how funny this guy really is,” Kelce explained.

Kelce Gets Some High Praise
Travis Kelce earned high praise for his acting skills in the Happy Gilmore 2 movie. That praise came from none other than co-star Christopher McDonald, who plays the ever-amusing, iconic character Shooter McGavin.
McDonald described Kelce as a natural on-screen performer in an interview with People magazine.
“Travis Kelce has been out there, and I just really liked him as a person. He is really funny. Way too handsome, by the way, but really a good actor actually,” McDonald told the outlet. “Surprisingly good.”
It seems Trav will have some new career opportunities should he decide to retire from the NFL after this season. Will Taylor Swift approve?
Travis Kelce’s appearance in Happy Gilmore 2 comes as he has been announced to star in a buddy-cop comedy movie called Loose Cannons.
