During a Monday Night Football matchup against the Washington CommandersKansas City Chiefs star defensive tackle Chris Jones was captured on camera tearing up during the national anthem.

Gotta say, it’s refreshing to see moments of raw emotion that remind us athletes are human too. Especially when it involves patriotism belted out by a military veteran.

Jones, a cornerstone of the Chiefs’ defense and a key contributor to their multiple Super Bowl victories in recent years, had an incredibly emotional pre-game moment when retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant Robert Carter belted out the anthem.

The six-time Pro Bowler was fired up after that effort.

Chris Jones not the only one moved

Chris Jones wasn’t the only one moved by retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant Robert Carter’s version of the national anthem. Fans on social media were absolutely loving it.

Some were calling for him to get more exposure for the epic rendition.

“Your producers should seriously consider bringing Retired Air Force Master Sergeant Robert Carter on tomorrow morning’s show after his fabulous rendition of the Star Spangled Banner in Kansas City tonight,” one fan urged Fox News.

Another suggested the NFL needs to bring him back for the Super Bowl.

“The man who sang the National Anthem tonight at the [Chiefs] game …. should sing it at the [Super Bowl],” another wrote. “Retired Air Force Master Sergeant Robert Carter sang it perfectly.”

Carter definitely killed it. It was enough to move even the toughest football player to tears.

Don’t call it a comeback

This isn’t the first time retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant Robert Carter had fans truly moved by his version of the national anthem. He also delivered a stunning version at the Final Four in San Antonio.

Perhaps the national anthem is making a comeback in the sports world in the new era of President Trump 2.0.

Just last week, NBA fans were treated to another incredible version for the season-opening game between the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center.

Navy veteran Generald Wilson belted out the patriotic song, and the NBA broadcast actually chose not to cut away from the performance. It was worth a look. Or rather, a listen.

Chris Jones has been spotted tearing up during the national anthem at multiple Super Bowls and the AFC Championship game. How refreshing is that in a league famous for taking a knee just a few years ago?

Jones has established himself as a premier defensive tackle with 82.5 career sacks, 13 forced fumbles, multiple Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections, and has made key contributions to three Super Bowl championships.
