Each day issues a new startling revelation regarding former NFL player Michael Oher and the Tuohys, the family who were the focus of the dramatized biographical film ‘The Blind Side’ which explored their relationship with the homeless teen turned football savant.
The ongoing controversy between Michael Oher and the Tuohy family intensified this week as accusations of blackmail emerged. Sean and Leigh Ann Tuohy’s attorney, Martin Singer, alleges that Oher demanded $15 million from the Tuohys in exchange for not revealing information about his ‘adoption’.
Singer called Oher’s claims that the Tuohys profited more from the 2009 movie “The Blind Side” while Oher did not, as “hurtful and absurd.”He also emphasizes that the Tuohys, who have earned substantial wealth in the restaurant business, ensured Oher received an equal share from the movie, which grossed over $300 million.
Moreover, the Tuohys claim they were transparent about the nature of Oher’s conservatorship, differentiating it from legal adoption. Sean and Leigh Ann’s son, Sean Tuohy Jr., even mentioned in an interview with Barstool Radio of having text evidence from 2020 contradicting Oher’s recent discovery claims about not being a legally adopted son.
According to Outkick however, there is evidence that Oher has been lying this entire time, and the proof is in his own memoir ‘I Beat The Odds: From Homelessness, to The Blind Side, and Beyond.’ According to Oher in his own words from the book:
“It kind of felt like a formality, as I’d been a part of the family for more than a year at that point. Since I was already over the age of eighteen and considered an adult by the state of Tennessee, Sean and Leigh Anne would be named as my ‘legal conservators’…
“They explained to me that it means pretty much the exact same thing as ‘adoptive parents. But that the laws were just written in a way that took my age into account. Honestly, I didn’t care what it was called. I was just happy that no one could argue that we weren’t legally what we already knew was real: We were a family.”
Obviously, this is concrete proof that understood what he was signing, what it actually did, and that he had no issues with it whatsoever.
