The USMNT took a 1-0 lead against Iran as Christian Pulisic converted in the waning moments of the second half, but following the goal he exited the game, but quickly returned.

The scoring play started when Weston McKennie spotted Sergino Dest breaking behind the Iranian defense.
Dest then headed the ball to a streaking Pulisic at the top of the goal area or 6-yard box. Pulisic volleyed it home, but he paid the price with a big collision with the Iranian goalkeeper.

The score remains 1-0 at halftime. The USMNT had a huge opportunity towards the very end of the half, when McKennie spotted Weah streaking behind the Iranian defense.
Weah would collect the pass and put it past the Iranian goalkeeper, but it would be called back and ruled offside.
So. Close.
