In a stunning example of projection, retired U.S. women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe called Team USA’s men’s hockey team “clowns” for participating in a post-championship celebration that included a phone call with President Trump and an in-person beer-chugging appearance by FBI Director and hockey superfan Kash Patel.

Rapinoe, looking like a sickly version of Eminem in a clip from her A Touch More podcast with wife Sue Bird, believes simply talking to those two men is an embarrassment.

She lamented that the athletes had “ruined” their moment of glory, turning what should have been a pure celebration of childhood dreams into a political spectacle. Actually, the media did that. Not the players.

“In what I like to call a classic ‘ripping defeat from the jaws of victory,’ the United States men’s hockey team, in their utter moment of glory, childhood dreams come true, sensational, ruined it for themselves,” Temu Eminem said. “They allowed themselves to be co-opted by a clown. And now you’re a clown. You look like a clown.”

Rapinoe Slams Team USA Hockey Over Trump and Patel Chat

That is one super-angry dude. But this is Projection 101. And to be clear, the men’s gold medal victory, and the women’s gold medal victories in hockey will be remembered much, much longer than the Women’s World Cup win in footie ball.

She’s jealous. It’s pretty obvious.

Rapinoe specifically criticized Patel’s participation, questioning the decorum of an FBI director joining in such revelry and emphasizing that the team had handed over their achievement to figures who would only use it for personal gain.

She drew on her own experience as a team captain, stating she would never have allowed such access to her locker room. Wait, what? She wouldn’t have allowed a man in the women’s locker room? What a bigot.

“To have the President of the United States on the phone, you get yourself wrapped in this moment,” she said. “For me, the choice point is like, I would’ve never as a captain or a leader on my team, that would’ve been clear to our staff and to the larger organization and support staff, those people would never be allowed in our locker room.”

Rapinoe and her silly media allies, of course, took umbrage with Trump’s joke during the call that he’d have to invite the women’s hockey team to the White House, something he was going to do all along.

“First of all, the joke isn’t even funny. I don’t understand the funny part of the joke,” she fumed. “And, like, why don’t you respect you more than to have that moment be taken by someone who for no reason at all takes a huge swing and a jab at women who did the exact same thing as you did.”

They could write volumes about the things Megan Rapinoe “don’t understand.” The men’s hockey team has offered nothing but unbridled praise for what the women did.

Meanwhile, members of the men’s hockey team are basically telling the critics—a very vocal but tiny minority—to essentially go pound sand.

Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson appeared in a White House photo shared by Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt wearing a MAGA hat, sending leftists everywhere scattering to find pearls to clutch.

Brady Tkachuk has refused to apologize for anything.

“I have no other comments other than for the things we can control. We supported them. They supported us. Can’t control what other people say,” he said.

Exactly the right play. Ignore the rage from actual clowns like Megan Rapinoe, who ‘ripped defeat from the jaws of victory’ by completely destroying her own accomplishments on the field with her woke activism. Let her cry all she wants. Nobody is paying attention.
