Tennis star Aryna Sabalenka, a four-time Grand Slam champion and the current WTA World number one player, stated in a recent interview that transgender athletes hold a “huge advantage over women” in sports.

Common sense dictates that she is correct.

Sabalenka, in an interview with Piers Morgan, argued that it is “just not fair to women to basically face biological men,” as female athletes train their entire lives only to compete against biologically similar opponents.

“I have nothing against them, but I feel like they still have a huge advantage over women,” Sabalenka said. “I think it’s just not fair to women to basically face biological men. It’s not fair.”

“The women work their whole life to reach her limit, and then she has to face a man, which is biologically much stronger. So. for me, I don’t agree with this kind of stuff in sport.”

Aryna Sabalenka is facing a biological male

Aryna Sabalenka’s views align with those of tennis legend Martina Navratilova, who has long advocated that girls and women should not face biological males in competition.

Nick Kyrgios, Sabalenka’s upcoming exhibition opponent, echoed her sentiments, saying he feels “the exact same way” about the issue.

How absurd is the difference between a biological male tennis player and a female? The pair is preparing for a modified “Battle of the Sexes” match later this month.

The match was inspired by the 1973 Billie Jean King vs. Bobby Riggs showdown. In this version, Kyrgios is being intentionally handicapped by using only one serve and targeting a smaller court area.

You know, to make things fair. They have to change the structure of the game and the actual court itself so Kyrgios isn’t firing serves past Sabalenka and running her all over the place.

Had her own controversy

In a somewhat ironic twist, Aryna Sabalenka was involved in her own little controversy involving testosterone a couple of months ago. Not any of her doing, however.

Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk, ranked No. 27, ignited controversy in an interview by attributing her struggles against the world’s top players to their apparent superior physical builds.

The 23-year-old sensation from Eastern Europe was asked by reporters at the Wuhan Open whether or not she feels “intimidated by players” like world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and No. 2 Iga Swiatek.

Kostyuk’s response focused on the physical differences between herself and those players.

“We all have our own biological structure,” she said. “Some have a higher level of testosterone, some have lower. It’s just natural, and that definitely helps.”

Critics were many. Even as the outlet publishing the interview admits that the quotes were taken out of context.

Kostyuk, who lost to Sabalenka twice this year, appeared to motivate her rival to clap back against the testosterone allegations. Aryna posted Instagram bikini photos from a Dubai resort getaway with friend Paula Badosa the following day.

“Much-needed girl’s day with my bestie,” she captioned the images while clearly showing off some top-notch feminine assets.
