San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey was away from organized team activities (OTAs) this week. Some speculated that the game’s best back had opted against taking part in practice due to him being upset about his contract.

Sure, McCaffrey would like a raise. He’d also like more guaranteed money. Wouldn’t we all?

Unlike teammate Brandon Aiyuk, McCaffrey’s absence from OTAs has nothing to do with his contract. The young man is preparing for his wedding with the amazing Olivia Culpo later this offseason. The two got engaged in April of last year and are preparing for their wedding.

They certainly are dynamite couple.

When you get on bended knee with smiles that could light up the entire universe, football certainly comes second. It’s probably one of the best reasons to actually miss team activities. It’s perhaps the happiest, too.

Talk about winning the gene lottery.

McCaffrey and Culpo first met when they were set up by friends back in 2019. Almost immediately, the two started dating.

“He’s just the best, I feel like he is really everything that I could ever ask for,” Culpo said of McCaffrey back in 2022, via People. “So I never have to worry about anything. I think that was the reason why I didn’t want to date an athlete, no offense, because there is a reputation there.”

At the time they started dating, McCaffrey was paying football for the Carolina Panthers. Culpo was years removed from winning both Miss USA 2012 and Miss Universe 2012. Shocker!

Things have changed for the power couple since. McCaffrey was dealt to the San Francisco 49ers midway through the 2022 season. For the Stanford product, it was a return home. His father, Ed McCaffrey, had also played for the 49ers.

As for Culpo, she’s since appeared in multiple movies and on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

So yeah, let’s give McCaffrey a pass for missing OTAs. Let him enjoy the run up to the happiest day of his life. It’s not all about football.
