It looks like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese’s intense rivalry is spilling over into the gaming world.

NBA 2K25, the classic basketball video game franchise from 2K, has released first-look images of Clark and Reese, showcasing their likeness in the game as a sign of a commitment to integrating the WNBA more deeply into their product.

The WNBA has been part of the NBA 2K series for a few years now, but NBA 2K25 seems to be pushing further with detailed representations of popular players like Clark and Reese.

Plus, let’s be honest, previously, there were no players like Clark and Reese.

Their inclusion in the game not only highlights their rising status in the sport but also contributes to the broader visibility and popularity of the women’s league as a whole.

The high fidelity, thanks to advanced scanning technology, used to capture their facial expressions and features look pretty impressive.

NBA 2K25 describes Clark as a “game-changer in every way” while Reese is labeled “Chi Barbie”, a rookie who has “the Windy City buzzing.”

NBA 2K25 Coming Soon

You’ll be able to play as Caitlin Clark or Angel Reese soon. NBA 2K25 is set for release on September 6th.

And if you want to get a jump, those who pre-order any edition of the game can access it two days early, starting on September 4th.

The WNBA version of the game features A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces on the cover. The All-Star Edition features Wilson and NBA champ Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics.

It marks the first such cover art featuring both NBA and WNBA players on the same release.

The game’s creators are clearly trying to capitalize off the current popularity of such players as Wilson, Reese, and Clark. Imagine that – the NBA riding the coattails of WNBA stars.

The Rivalry Continues

The rivalry between Clark and Angel Reese has become one of the most talked-about narratives in women’s basketball.

It originated from their college days when Reese’s LSU Tigers defeated Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes in the 2023 NCAA Championship Game.

Reese added fuel to the fire with her taunting of Clark during that game. Clark got revenge the following year when Iowa dumped LSU out of the 2024 tournament.

Both players have acclimated well to the WNBA.

The Indiana Fever guard became the first rookie in league history to secure a triple-double against the New York Liberty. Her Chicago Sky rival ran through a streak of 15 consecutive games where she posted a double-double, also a rookie record.

Can’t wait to see the controversy that develops when they release player ratings for these two in the new NBA 2K25 game. You know it’s coming!
