Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese was criticized for skipping out on a WNBA All-Star orange carpet event Thursday night, but drew heavy praise and eyeballs for her choice of attire while attending an NBA Summer League game instead.

The contrasting responses are emblematic of the polarizing figure Reese has become in recent years.

Reese was selected to play in the WNBA All-Star Game this weekend but opted not to show up for some of the pre-game festivities.

The Sky forward joined Celtics star Jaylen Brown and his girlfriend, fellow WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick, for a summer league contest instead.

Why she did this is anybody’s guess. Most people wouldn’t ditch a dentist appointment in favor of a summer league game. If you want to watch Bronny brick three-pointers, just pull up his highlight reels at USC.

Some Fans Not Happy With Angel Reese Dissing WNBA All-Star Event

Some fans weren’t thrilled with a rookie kind of disrespecting the whole WNBA All-Star festivities instead of accepting it as an honor.

“Angel just pissed me off. Your first all-star event as a rookie and you still in Vegas at a summer league game?” one person responded.

Reese replied, “It’s ok babe. I’m minding the business that PAYS me.”

While odd and a reach, her quip seems to be a reference to the NBA subsidizing the WNBA.

While Reese was watching the summer league game, other WNBA all-stars like Caitlin Clark and A’ja Wilson were among those who got dressed up for the orange carpet event.

Turns Heads With Her Outfit

If Angel Reese was hoping to go unnoticed at the NBA Summer League game, she failed. She didn’t do a very good job of laying low.

Aside from having courtside seats and palling around with an NBA champ and his lady, which got her featured on TV, she went viral for wearing a super-conservative and reserved outfit.

Reese, of course, made her debut as a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model in 2023. So we already know she looks good.

The outlet referred to her as the ‘Bayou Barbie.’

On Saturday, the WNBA All-Stars will face off against Team USA. After, the latter team will then depart for Paris to compete in the Olympics.
