Dallas Wings guard and four-time WNBA All-Star Arike Ogunbowale was arrested early Thursday morning on a misdemeanor battery charge after an alleged physical altercation at a nightclub in downtown Miami.
According to police reports and court records from Miami-Dade County, the incident occurred around 4:20 a.m. And it’s here that I’d like to interject and offer Bounding Into Sports advice for all athletesāgo home by midnight at the latest. Nothing good happens to athletes at 2, 3, or 4 in the morning. Nothing.
Ogunbowale was being escorted out of the club by security staff due to an unrelated altercation when she allegedly punched a male security guard in the face with a closed fist. The strike reportedly knocked the guard to the ground.
The alleged victim identified Ogunbowale at the scene, and she was taken into custody without further incident.

The arrest came just hours after Ogunbowale helped lead her Unrivaled team, Mist BC, to the league’s championship victory over Phantom. She scored 19 points in the title game earlier Wednesday evening.
The team was celebrating at the nightclub, which served as the official after-party venue. Social media footage from earlier in the night showed Ogunbowale partying with fellow players, including Paige Bueckers and Aziaha James.
